NetPhotos

The first thing you need to know about this application is what it can do, what sort of functionality it can offer you to make your life easier. Because, as far as I see it, apps should provide some sort of functionality to enhance the way things work, they should provide much needed functionality.

So what does the Jakeri AB-developed app NetPhotos do? The simple answer is this: it allows you to browse your iPhoto libraries on your local network or over the internet. After you enable photo sharing in iPhoto, the app will automatically discover iPhoto libraries on your local network using Bonjour and display them to you. You can then view the photos in the libraries on your iPhone (landscape mode is supported).

If while browsing through your images you come across some of your friend Bob, and you want to send them to him, you can easily do so. You can send images to others via email with just a few taps. Alternatively, if you like an image so much that you want to have it on your iPhone, you can save it to your iPhone’s photo library. There’s one more thing you can do with the app: you can copy an image you’re watching.

According to the app’s developer, several enhancements are planed to be added in a future update:
- The option to include multiple photos in an email.
- Flickr integration.
- Browse photos by date.
- Original size photos.

Getting back to what NetPhotos can currently do, I will tell it one more time: it lets you browse through your iPhoto libraries without having to connect your iPhone to your Mac and without having to sync your complete photo library to your iPhone.

NetPhotos provides a handy way to view photos from your iPhoto libraries on your iOS-powered device. It does precisely what it advertises and does it effortlessly.
